Title:                           Psychiatric Staff Nurse (Days, Evenings and Nights)

SUMMARY: Provides direct patient care to maintain each patient’s physical and psychological safety.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Upholds and enforces patient’s privileges in accordance with their treatment plan, level of care and program guidelines
  2. Provides accurate and ongoing assessment of patient’s status, responds to and communicates this appropriately.
  3. Provides one-on-one assistance to patients in crisis.
  4. Accurately documents in shift progress notes and nutritional flow sheets.
  5. Dispense medication in accordance with policy. Ensure vital signs and weights are completed.
  6. Orients new patients to the program as assigned.
  7. Attends to the nutritional and dietary needs of the patients. Provides support, redirection, and monitoring at meals.
  8. Performs medical procedures as directed by physician orders.

Title:                           Medical Collections Supervisor

Classification:            Non-Exempt

Status:                        Full-Time

Reports To:                Billing and Collections Manager

 

SUMMARY: Responsible for the follow up and collection of the McCallum Group’s receivables in order to maintain positive cash flow and reduce accounts receivables and days in A/R, in compliance with all applicable regulations. The Medical Collections Supervisor is responsible for the daily operational supervision of the collection activities including accounts receivable, and collections. This hands on Medical Collections Supervisor makes outbound calls, and sends letters to insurance companies and patients to collect on delinquent accounts. Responsibilities include reviewing patient information to determine why claims have not been paid, researching denied claims and filing effective appeals with insurance companies. Must be able to communicate and organize effectively and work under restraints of time and pressure while maintaining accuracy.

 

Essential Competencies, Duties and Responsibilities

1.                  Focuses on results and desired outcomes to effectively follow-up and collect receivables in order to maintain positive cash flow and reduce accounts receivable

·         Researches any overdue account balance that is fully or partially unpaid and follows up by phone and/or mail to insurance carriers or customers on delinquent payments. 

·         Reviews claims denied for payment and underpaid claims. Verifies payment information adjustments to manager.

·         Researches customer's accounts thoroughly and documents appropriately. Handles all appeals.

·         Coordinates collection activities and communication for delinquent accounts by preparing information for external collection agencies or attorneys.

·         Complies with the Fair Debt Collector Practices Act (FDCPA).

·         Responds to customer inquiries regarding account status.

·         Resolves discrepancies and prepares adjustments and refunds as necessary.

·         Ensures that all information regarding collection activity of account is entered accurately into the billing system.

·         Brings recurring issues to the attention of the department supervisor.

·         Initiates payments and resubmits bills as necessary.

·         Pursues patient for payment obligations when insurance defaults as permitted by law or contractual

·         Posts all demographic information into the billing system for accounts to be created once a patient has admitted. 

·         Provides clear and accurate documentation of all contacts with any internal or external persons concerning patient accounts. 

2.                  With management direction supervises collection activities, providing organization, and supervision according to the collection services required.

·         Orients, trains, counsels and supervises collection activities.

·         Under the direction of the manager coordinates and monitors patient account representatives work load and determines progress in achieving desired outcomes. Delegates tasks according to staff’s strengths.

·         Provides ongoing constructive feedback, direction and guidance on their performance and progress in regards to collection expectations and goals.

3.                  Performs insurance benefit verifications, disseminating the information gathered to patient/families/appropriate McCallum Place staff.

·         Secures initial pre-authorization for treatment for patient admissions.

·         Ensures all medical billing information is gathered from appropriate sources required for patient admission.

·         Communicates and provides patients with billing information and patient financial obligations as required.

4.                  Demonstrate commitment to advancing professional skills and development through attendance of training.

·         Attends and actively participates in department meetings, and trainings

·         Attends annual safety training.

Job Title:         Advanced Practice Nurse, Family/Internal

Classification: Non-Exempt

Status:             Part-Time (16 Hours a week)

Reports To:     Medical Director

 

SUMMARY: Provides medical services to patients with eating disorders who are in all levels of care. The McCallum Place Advanced Practice Nurse is an experienced family/internal medicine nurse, acting within their professional boundaries, who will provide care for McCallum Place patients from initial medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. They will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, including assessment and diagnostic skills, for patients within the eating disorder treatment center. They will work collaboratively with the primary physician and treatment team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing nurse leadership as required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.                  Provides ongoing clinical services and medication management to patients in all levels of care.

·         Completes initial medical evaluation for all levels of care.

·         Reviews patient medical information to ensure medical stability and to offer treatment recommendations.

·         Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate/treatment and care for patients.

·         Reviews and completes medical updates for individual treatment plans while coordinating with treatment teams.

·         Responsible for daily oversight of care provided to all patients at McCallum Place.

SUMMARY:  Active member of the medical staff providing Medical Care to Eating Disorder and Obesity patients.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of Physician, MD:

1.         Provides ongoing clinical services and medication management to patients in all levels of care.

2.         Manages emergency information in a prompt, precise, and professional manner, giving appropriate guidance to patients, families and employees.

3.         Completes initial medical evaluations for all levels of care.

4.         Reviews and completes medical updates for individual treatment plans while coordinating with treatment teams.

5.         Works constructively and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals in attaining high standards of health care in their clinical expertise area.

6.         Manages outpatient medical care and admits patients if necessary,

7.         Reviews patient medical information to ensure medical stability and to offer treatment recommendations.

8.         Ensures the physical health and care of patients is held to the highest standards.

9.         Refers patients to other facilities/hospitals as needed.

10.       Works closely with nursing staff to provide best medical practices.

Education and Experience

Current Licensure as a Medical Doctor in the state of Missouri in good standing.

Board Certified in Family Medicine.

Current DEA/BNDD licensing.

Significant clinical experience.

Title:                           House Associate / Recovery Coach

Classification:            Non-Exempt

Status:                        Part-Time (Hours 7:30pm-10:30pm)

Reports To:                Manager of Clinical Services

 

SUMMARY: Provides rehabilitation/community integration services to females with eating disorders who are transitioning to lower levels of care.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1.                  Initiates and completes assigned clerical tasks and house errands.

2.                  Provides one-on-one assistance to patients in crisis by giving support and guidance as well as mange emergency situation in a prompt and professional manner.

3.                  Maintains appropriate boundaries with clients.  Upholds client’s confidentiality and respects patient’s rights.

4.                  Provides support, redirection, and monitoring at daily assigned meals. Redirect inappropriate conversations and rituals. 

5.                  Leads and organizes community integration activities.

6.                  Provides individual coaching services to patients in the Transition House program.

7.                  Observes, intervenes and reports breaches in adherence to rules outlined for the Transition House.

8.                  Communicates emergent concerns regarding self-harming behaviors, eating disordered behaviors, patient vital signs in a prompt manner to coordinator or administrative on call person.

9.                  Accurately documents in progress notes and nutritional flow sheet per policy.

10.              Performs basic maintenance of the residence and contact appropriate staff in regard to repairs to the residence outside the scope of basic skills.

11.              Possesses a valid driver license and ability to safely drive the McCallum Place vehicles.

12.              Demonstrates professional conduct, concern, respect and compassion toward all patients, families, co-workers and the public as a representative of McCallum Place.

13.              Attends staff meetings and trainings.

SUMMARY: Provides therapeutic and medical services to patients with eating disorders who are in all levels of care (Residential, Partial Hospitalization, and IOP). The McCallum Place Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse is an experienced nurse, acting within their professional boundaries, who will provide care for McCallum Place patients from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. They will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, including assessment and diagnostic skills, for patients within the eating disorder treatment center. The Advanced Practice Nurse Psychiatric will demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process. They will work collaboratively with the treatment team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing nurse leadership as required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1.                  Provides ongoing clinical services to patients in all levels of care, medical and psychiatric

·         Clinically examine and assess patients’ needs from a mental and physical status based on the presenting symptoms and complaints.

·         Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, psychologists, or nursing staff, to develop, implement, or evaluate treatment plans.

·         Consult with psychiatrists or other professionals when unusual or complex cases are encountered.

·         Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate/treatment/interventions and care for patients.

·         Reviews patient medical information to ensure medical stability and to offer treatment recommendations.

·         Responsible for daily oversight of care provided to all patients at McCallum Place.

·         Demonstrates appropriate and effective utilization of technology, analysis of information, and selection of resources in care implementation.

·         Demonstrates use of a broad range of information, knowledge and skills; and critical thinking in the clinical decision-making processes when providing nursing care.  

2.                  Provides individual clinical services with assigned patients.

·         Maintains a schedule for sessions and meets with patients at frequency indicated by their current level of care.

·         Establishes a therapeutic relationship with patients, including rapport, therapeutic boundaries, and a working alliance towards treatment goals.

·         Displays theoretical knowledge of a variety of psychiatric therapies, such as CBT, DBT and family based therapies.

·         Consistently uses psychotherapeutic framework to conceptualize patient’s struggles and to provide treatment.

3.                  Develops and implements individualized treatment plans to facilitate patients’ progress.

·         Develops treatment plans based on patients’ identified problems and needs.

·         Reviews and completes treatment plan updates while coordinating with treatment team.

4.                  Coordinate patients’ discharge and / or transition between levels of care.

·         Works collaboratively with treatment team, patients and families to establish a discharge plan.

·         As required communicates the discharge plan to families, and outpatient providers.

·         Communicates through email patients’ discharge and /or transition between levels of care with McCallum Place employees.

·         Provides utilization review for assigned patients, and develops a plan for treatment working within the resources from insurance companies, patients, and families.

5.                  Facilitates group therapy.

·         Maintains a group culture that ensures the safety of patients, which includes upholding the group expectations identified in the Patient Handbook.

·         Follows the group schedule, including starting and ending groups on time.

·         Develops, revises, and implements modules for group therapy, particularly as new techniques, theories, etc. relevant to the group topic are added.

SUMMARY: Kitchen/Nutrition Staff at McCallum Place provide knowledge and expertise in food safety, meal preparation, and presentation. They ensure meals and supplements are portioned according to guidelines and treatment procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Accurately follows recipes and prepares food under the supervision of the food service manager. Accurately portions meals, supplements and snacks, per written specifications, to meet requirements of patient’s meal plan. Provides alternative meal options under the direction of RD to meet special dietary needs of patients with food allergies or intolerances.
2. Follows principles of safe food handling and preparation techniques at all times and ensures that these are practiced by all staff who assist with food preparation.
3. Maintains inventory (receiving and rotation of stock) at McCallum Place facilities.
4. Maintains cleanliness of kitchen and equipment at McCallum Place facilities.
5. Provides direction to staff regarding problem solving around portion sizes, meal substitutions, and other nutritional concerns.
6. Completes all paperwork required for daily shifts.
7. Demonstrates the ability to organize and complete assignments.
8. Demonstrates professional conduct, concern, respect and compassion toward all patients, families, co-workers and the public as a representative of McCallum Place.

Education and/or Experience
