Individual Psychotherapy

Individual Psychotherapy works to help understand the meaning and extent of one's behavior. Patients develop the tools by meeting with an individual therapist one-three sessions per week depending on levels of care.  Our patients learn the skills to help them manage their distress instead of relying on their eating disorder. Treatment at McCallum Place includes several different approaches to individual therapy, including CBT, psychodynamic, DBT, family systems and Internal Family Systems.

Eating Disorder Group Therapy

Group therapy is a form of eating disorder treatment that provides an opportunity for a deeper understanding of self and others. Restrictive eating and binging and purging can be a way to communicate internal distress. Patients suffering from anorexia, bulimia, or other eating disorders, can all work together to overcome their fears and anxiety and to learn the healing, therapeutic value of group work.

Group Fitness Therapy

Beginning fitness training is offered to patients who have achieved a healthy weight and can now begin to incorporate more physical activity into their daily routine. Individual assessments help patients learn to debunk their body myths and develop a healthy approach to personal fitness.

Group Dance & Movement Therapy

Dance therapy helps patients reconnect with their feelings and communicate on another level. Movement encourages individuals to step outside of their mind and reclaim their bodies, giving them courage to find beauty and freedom in their own rhythms.

Group Art Therapy

Art therapy allows patients to express themselves creatively, providing another window into each individual and a different way to promote understanding and communication.

Meal Therapy

Meal therapy, nutrition, and post-meal groups are led by staff, therapists and dietitians. Staff and patients plan, eat, and review meals as a group. Patients begin to face and overcome their fear of eating with supportive feedback and encouragement before, during, and after each meal.

Pet Assisted Therapy

Our team of Golden Retrievers lead our pet assisted therapy, helping patients to connect, play, and relax after a week of intensive individual and group work.

We offer comprehensive eating disorder treatment with our five levels of care plus Transitional Living
